The American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) is set to hold a Memorial Day ceremony at the Netherlands American Cemetery on May 25, 2025. The event will take place at 3 p.m. CET and aims to honor U.S. military personnel who sacrificed their lives in defense of freedom.

This ceremony will feature dignitary remarks, music, wreath laying, and a military flyover. The ABMC is organizing this event in collaboration with the U.S. Mission to the Netherlands, local dignitaries, military units, and veteran organizations.

Speakers at the commemoration include Thomas Spoehr, ABMC Executive Director of Operations; Marcus Micheli, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the United States of America; Dick Schoof, Dutch Prime Minister; Brigadier General Andrew Saslav from the U.S. Armed Forces; and Emile Roemer, Governor King’s Commissioner Province of Limburg. Minister Brekelmans and General Eichelsheim from Defense are also expected to attend.

Three U.S. veterans are anticipated to be present for this important observance which encourages public participation.

The ceremony will be held at AM Begraafplaats 1 in Margraten.
