The U.S. Department of State's Rewards for Justice (RFJ) program is offering up to $10 million for information that could disrupt the financial networks of Hizballah in the Tri-Border Area (TBA) of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay. This initiative, managed by the Diplomatic Security Service, aims to gather intelligence on Hizballah's financial operations in the region.
Hizballah generates revenue through various illicit activities in the TBA, including money laundering, narcotics trafficking, smuggling of charcoal and oil, illicit diamond trade, and counterfeiting U.S. dollars. The organization also profits from commercial ventures across Latin America such as construction and real estate sales.
The RFJ seeks information that could lead to identifying sources of revenue for Hizballah or its financial facilitators; donors; financial institutions aiding transactions; businesses owned by Hizballah; front companies procuring dual-use technology; and criminal schemes benefiting the group financially.
Hizballah is recognized as a Lebanon-based terrorist organization receiving support from Iran. It was designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the State Department in 1997 and as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist in 2001.
More details about this reward offer can be found on the Rewards for Justice website. Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to contact RFJ via Signal, Telegram, WhatsApp at +1-202-702-7843, or through their Tor-based tip line. Confidentiality is assured for all informants.
Since its establishment in 1984, Rewards for Justice has distributed over $250 million to more than 125 individuals worldwide who provided crucial information contributing to U.S. national security efforts.
