Fubon Financial Holdings, in collaboration with Taiwan Mobile and Fu Jen Catholic University, has launched the 'Sustainable Development Navigation Program.' This initiative seeks to address global sustainable development issues by leveraging academia and industry strengths. The program aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12, which focuses on promoting a green economy and ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns.
The '2025 Sustainability Forum and International Conference' is set for April 24-25. It will focus on 'Realization of Responsible Consumption and Production: Innovations and Transitions in Circular Economy.' Over 3,000 attendees are expected, both in-person and online. Key participants include Barney Glover from Jobs and Skills Australia, Professor Way Kuo from City University of Hong Kong, Jerry Hsu from Fubon Financial Holdings, and Professor Stefan Strassner from Technische Hochschule Wildau.
Daniel M. Tsai of Fubon Group noted that the program spans six years focusing on themes such as sustainable finance, product circularity, green innovation, and global green supply chains. Richard M. Tsai highlighted Fubon's 'Sustainable Management ESG Vision Project,' initiated in 2015 with four key strategies: decarbonization, digitalization, empowerment, and connection.
Dr. Francis Yi-Chen Lan of Fu Jen Catholic University emphasized the university's commitment to sustainability based on principles outlined in the papal encyclical 'Laudato Si'. Jerry Hsu mentioned that COP29 was designated as the 'Finance COP', stressing the financial industry's role in net-zero transformations.
Fubon Financial Holdings continues its support for academic research through various initiatives like the annual 'Globalization Lecture,' renamed to 'Fubon Sustainable Future Forum' in 2023. Additionally, they signed a cooperation agreement with Taiwan Mobile and Academia Sinica to support net-zero technology research.
Looking forward, Fubon Financial Holdings aims to engage further in industry-academic collaborations to tackle climate change challenges.
