Meta Platforms has released a study revealing the significant economic impact of its AI-driven advertising technologies in the United States. The report highlights that these technologies were linked to nearly $550 billion in economic activity and 3.4 million jobs in 2024, marking a substantial increase from previous years.

According to Meta, more than 35 million businesses in the U.S. utilize Facebook and Instagram monthly to expand their operations, with over 2 million American businesses actively advertising on these platforms each month. "Millions of American businesses – from mom-and-pop shops to big global brands – use our personalized advertising tools to reach customers and grow," the company stated.

The study also found that new AI-driven advertising tools offer a 22% improvement in return on ad spend for advertisers. Specifically, U.S. advertisers receive a $4.52 return for every dollar spent using these tools. Even those not employing the latest AI tools see benefits, with an average revenue of $3.71 per ad dollar across all U.S. advertisers.

Meta's research builds on methods developed in collaboration with UC Berkeley and published by the National Bureau of Economic Research. It underscores the broader potential of AI technology in enhancing business growth and efficiency.

"Studies like this one give us a glimpse of the immense potential of AI by examining the real impact of AI tools – businesses using them are growing," Meta commented, emphasizing how ads personalization can boost efficiency for businesses while noting that restrictions on personalization may harm small businesses and consumers.

The findings illustrate Meta's ongoing efforts to enhance its ads personalization tools and AI systems as beneficial not only for businesses but also for America's economy and workforce overall. "These results underscore how our ongoing work...is helping America’s economy, businesses and workers," Meta concluded.
