The United States Embassy in Pristina has announced the opening of the Fulbright Graduate Study Program competition for the 2026-2027 academic year. Applications are now being accepted by the United States-Kosovo Educational Exchange Board (USKEB) for this program, which is jointly funded by the U.S. Department of State and the Government of Kosovo.

This initiative allows young professionals from Kosovo to pursue a master's degree at universities in the United States. Eligible fields include agriculture, American studies, anthropology, biological sciences, computer science, economics, engineering, environmental sciences, journalism/media studies, law, political science, psychology, and more. Medical studies are excluded; however, public health and global health are eligible.

Participants will be selected through an open and merit-based process. The scholarship covers tuition fees at a U.S. university, a monthly living stipend, health insurance, and international airfare. "Applicants interested in medicine... should be aware that direct patient care... is not permitted," according to program guidelines.

Applications must be submitted online by July 27, 2025. The grant typically supports one or two academic years of study in the U.S., after which recipients must return to Kosovo for at least two years. Family members may accompany fellows on a case-by-case basis but are also subject to this requirement.

Eligibility criteria include Kosovan citizenship (excluding permanent U.S. residents or dual citizens), proficiency in English sufficient for graduate studies in the U.S., eligibility for a J-1 visa requiring return to Kosovo post-grant period, completion of undergraduate education prior to application submission and satisfactory medical clearance.

The selection process includes pre-screening applications for alignment with administrative priorities followed by interviews conducted by USKEB before final approval by the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Applicants must complete their applications online via https://apply.iie.org/ffsp2026 with all required documents submitted electronically by July 27th deadline; incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Further information about standardized tests indicates that while TOEFL is not initially required it becomes necessary once selected as primary or alternate candidates along with possible GRE/GMAT requirements depending on study fields chosen.
