Following the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India announced on May 10, the U.S. Embassy and consulates in Pakistan have resumed normal operations. The United States is monitoring the situation closely and advises its citizens to stay vigilant.

Pakistan has reopened its airspace, allowing many commercial flights to resume. U.S. travelers are encouraged to contact airlines for flight status updates at major airports including Islamabad International Airport, Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, and Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar.

Routine and emergency consular services are available at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and Consulates General in Karachi and Lahore. Appointments for U.S. Citizen services can be scheduled through the online appointment system on the U.S. Embassy & Consulates website.

The U.S. Department of State maintains a "Do Not Travel" advisory for areas near the India-Pakistan border due to potential armed conflict, along with a broader "Reconsider Travel" advisory for Pakistan.

Updates will be provided as necessary through the embassy's message system, with citizens urged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for timely alerts.

U.S. citizens are advised to monitor local media, remain vigilant, review personal security plans, maintain a low profile, carry identification, cooperate with authorities, and consult the Country Security Report for Pakistan.
