The U.S. Consulate General in Auckland has announced that its Consular Section will offer passport application acceptance services in Christchurch on June 25 and Wellington on June 26, 2025. These services are part of the consulate's outreach efforts to meet the high demand for passport processing.

Due to significant interest, the consulate cannot provide specific appointment times. Applicants interested in utilizing these services must be available for a five-minute interview anytime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Following registration, applicants will receive their appointment time.

The services provided include U.S. passport renewals for children under 16, renewals for first-time adult applicants over 16 years old, and replacements for lost or stolen passports. However, this appointment does not constitute complete adjudication; it is an initial step where applicants submit required forms and undergo an oath before a consular officer. The final adjudication takes place in Auckland, with processing expected to take eight to ten weeks.

Services not offered during this outreach include adult passport renewals (for those whose ten-year passports were issued less than fifteen years ago), first-time adult applications over age 16, emergency passports, consular reports of birth abroad, notary services, renouncing U.S. citizenship, federal benefits, or other citizen services.

Applicants wishing to schedule an appointment should email AucklandOutreach@state.gov with their preferred date and location (Christchurch or Wellington), full names of applicants and attending parents if applicable, dates of birth, required service information, contact details including email and phone number.

Confirmed appointments will receive further instructions via email regarding the appointment time/location along with payment instructions and a list of necessary documents.
