Following the announcement of a ceasefire between Pakistan and India on May 10, Pakistan has reopened its airspace, allowing for the restoration of some commercial flights. U.S. citizens in the region are advised to contact airlines for specific flight updates.

The U.S. Embassy and consulates in Pakistan are closely monitoring the situation. The U.S. Department of State maintains a "Do Not Travel" advisory for areas near the India-Pakistan border and the Line of Control due to potential armed conflict. Travelers are also urged to reconsider travel to Pakistan under a long-standing "Reconsider Travel" advisory.

U.S. citizens can check flight statuses with their airlines or at airports including Islamabad International Airport, Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, and Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar.

The U.S. Embassy will provide updates as needed through its message system, and citizens are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).

U.S. citizens should exercise caution, leave areas near military activities if safe to do so, shelter in place if relocation is unsafe, review personal security plans, monitor local media for updates, maintain a low profile, carry identification, cooperate with authorities, and review the Country Security Report for Pakistan.
