Fifteen Brazilian students are set to travel to the United States to participate in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2025. The event, regarded as the largest international science and engineering fair for high school students, will be held in Columbus, Ohio, from May 10 to 16.
These students were chosen by the Brazilian Science and Engineering Fair (FEBRACE), which took place in March. They will present nine projects recognized for their scientific excellence, originality, and social relevance. The projects cover diverse topics such as sustainable water treatment technologies, artificial intelligence tools for combating disinformation, health research innovations, waste reuse solutions, and ecological alternatives for packaging and ceramics.
The participation of these students is supported by the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Brazil. This support includes covering transportation, accreditation, lodging, and food expenses as part of efforts to enhance scientific education and foster international exchange among young talents.
In addition to those selected by FEBRACE, Brazil's representation at ISEF will include participants chosen by the International Science and Technology Exhibition (MOSTRATEC) in Novo Hamburgo. In total, 28 Brazilian students will take part in the fair alongside more than 1,600 students from approximately 60 countries. The fair offers about $9 million in prizes, scholarships, internships, and recognitions across 22 scientific categories. Special prizes are also awarded by universities and research institutions worldwide.
