Shante Moore Consul General | U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan

The U.S. Mission to Pakistan has issued a security alert regarding military activity and flight availability in the region. Despite the situation, the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and Consulates General in Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar remain operational. The consulate in Lahore is maintaining a "shelter in place" status while continuing to offer both routine and emergency services to American citizens.

The U.S. Department of State reiterates its "Do Not Travel" advisory for areas near the India-Pakistan border and the Line of Control due to terrorism risks and potential armed conflict. It also advises reconsidering travel throughout Pakistan.

American citizens caught in active conflict zones are advised to leave if safe or otherwise shelter in place. Flight availability is subject to change, so travelers should verify their flight status with airlines or airport authorities at Islamabad International Airport, Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, or Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar.

The embassy will provide updates as necessary through its messaging system, urging Americans to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for timely alerts.

U.S. citizens are advised to exercise caution near military activities, review personal security plans, monitor local media for updates, maintain a low profile, carry identification, cooperate with authorities, and consult the Country Security Report for Pakistan.
