OCBC Cycle 2025 will transition to a fully virtual event, organizers announced on April 17, 2025. The decision comes as security resources needed for road closures during the event, scheduled for May 3 and 4, are limited. Participants who have registered for various rides will receive full refunds by the end of May.

Those signed up for mass rides can participate in the virtual formats at no additional cost. However, the OCBC Cycle Speedway Open Championship is canceled due to its race format. The Sportive Ride (40km), The Foldie Ride by Brompton (40km), The Straits Times Ride (20km), and Mighty Savers Kids Ride will convert to virtual versions: The Sportive VR, The Foldie Ride VR by Brompton, The Straits Times VR, and Mighty Savers Kids VR.

Event packs can be collected at the Singapore Sports Hub from May 2 to 4. After completing their virtual rides by June 2, participants will receive medals via mail.

Registration is now closed but contests and promotions will continue as planned. "Prizes for all winners will be given out," stated the organizers.

The decision not to reschedule stems from a lack of available space at the Singapore Sports Hub on other weekends in 2025. Alternative venues were considered but none could accommodate long-distance cycling routes for up to 7,000 cyclists.

The Virtual Ride concept was introduced in 2020 amid Covid-19 restrictions and remains unchanged since then. Participants must complete their chosen distance using a fitness tracker or workout app and submit proof by June 2 to receive their medals.

Guides on how to submit ride records are provided in Annexes A through C.
