The U.S. Mission to Pakistan has issued a security alert due to ongoing military activity and closed airspace in the region. The situation between Pakistan and India is evolving, prompting the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and Consulates General in Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar to remain open for regular business.

The U.S. Department of State advises against all travel near the India-Pakistan border and the Line of Control because of terrorism risks and potential armed conflict. It also suggests reconsidering travel to Pakistan more broadly.

U.S. citizens in areas of active conflict are advised to leave if it is safe or shelter in place if unable to relocate safely.

Flight availability in Pakistan remains uncertain, with some civilian flights reportedly operating overnight. However, the Pakistan Airports Authority announced a temporary suspension of flight operations in Karachi, Lahore, and Sialkot this morning. Travelers should check flight statuses through their airlines or at airport websites.

The U.S. Embassy will provide updates through its message system, urging enrollment in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).

Actions recommended for U.S. citizens include exercising caution around military activities, reviewing personal security plans, monitoring local media for updates, maintaining a low profile, carrying identification, cooperating with authorities, and reviewing the Country Security Report for Pakistan.
