Following a successful inaugural year, the Toyota Mobility Foundation and MaRS Discovery District have announced the call for applications for the second cohort of their Mobility Unlimited Hub program. This initiative aims to foster the development and commercialization of technologies that enhance accessibility and active mobility on a global scale.

Applications opened on May 1, 2025, and will close on June 12, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Interested applicants are encouraged to attend a virtual webinar scheduled for May 30 at 10:00 a.m. EST to gain further insights into the program.

The Mobility Unlimited Hub is designed to accelerate rehabilitative, assistive, and adaptive mobility technologies by providing startups with access to industry expertise, funding opportunities, and pathways for commercialization. The program encourages collaboration among entrepreneurs, researchers, and industry leaders to ensure that impactful mobility solutions reach those who need them most.

The first cohort of the Mobility Unlimited Hub achieved significant milestones. Startups within the cohort secured over $5 million Canadian in funding, launched new products, and expanded into international markets. Notable achievements include Braze Mobility Inc.'s expansion into Europe after receiving two patents; Trexo Robotics Inc.'s users surpassing 100 million steps; AWL-Electricity's showcasing of its wireless charging solution at the Paris Para games; Axtion Independence Mobility Inc.'s launch of pre-orders in the U.S.; Deaf AI securing key partnerships; and Cheelcare raising $3.5 million ahead of its public listing on the TSX Venture Exchange.

Grace Lee Reynolds, CEO of MaRS Discovery District, emphasized the importance of investing in startups as they drive breakthrough innovations that make the world more inclusive. "At MaRS," she stated, "we believe startups are the driving force behind breakthrough innovations that make the world more inclusive."

William Chernicoff from Toyota Mobility Foundation highlighted their commitment to fostering inclusive mobility solutions globally. "The success of the first cohort has demonstrated the immense potential of this program," he said.

The continued growth of Toronto's Mobility Unlimited Hub signifies progress toward inclusive and accessible mobility worldwide. TMF plans to build a global network of hubs addressing regional mobility challenges while contributing to a worldwide movement for accessible solutions.
