In a speech celebrating the 249th anniversary of American Independence, Ambassador Henick addressed notable figures including His Excellency Abdulla Aripov, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, and Her Excellency Saida Mirziyoyeva, Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan. The ambassador extended a warm welcome, saying, "Ladies and Gentlemen, esteemed Ministers, and dear friends, good afternoon and welcome to the 249th anniversary of American Independence! Xush kelibsiz!"
This year's celebration focused on the theme “The Great American Road Trip.” Ambassador Henick discussed the symbolic significance of travel and movement, noting, "The freedom to pursue happiness—to seek opportunity—often means being able to move and the car is a symbol of this freedom."
Henick reflected on their experiences in Uzbekistan and shared insights from an Uzbek proverb, emphasizing cooperation between nations: “Don’t choose a house—choose neighbors. Don’t choose a road—choose traveling companions.” He reiterated the United States' commitment to partnering with Uzbekistan, stating, "The United States chooses to be such a partner with Uzbekistan."
Ambassador Henick urged a celebration of progress, opportunity, and partnerships, asserting, "Let’s celebrate the power of partnership. The United States is committed to being your yo’ldosh, your reliable partner, on this journey forward."
Henick concluded with a call for mutual respect and shared goals towards security and prosperity, encouraging a toast to the communal futures of the United States and Uzbekistan.
