Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) reported its April sales results, revealing a significant increase in electrified vehicle sales for both its Toyota and Lexus divisions. In April 2025, electrified vehicles accounted for 50.9% of all units sold by the Toyota Division, totaling 10,651 units. For Lexus, electrified vehicles made up 57.5% of sales, with 2,142 units sold.
Several hybrid models experienced notable sales growth. The Toyota Camry Hybrid's sales surged by 255.6%, and the Toyota Tundra Hybrid recorded its best April with a 21.1% increase. The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid sales jumped by 130.9%, marking its best April. The Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid and Toyota Land Cruiser both achieved their highest monthly sales ever, as did the Toyota Sequoia, which saw an 87.7% increase. The Toyota Sienna achieved its best April with a 17.1% rise in sales.
Lexus hybrids also saw significant growth. The Lexus ES Hybrid's sales rose by 51.2%, while the Lexus UX Hybrid enjoyed its best April with a 48.1% increase. The Lexus NX Hybrid experienced a sharp 257.0% rise in sales, and the Lexus NX 450h+ sales increased by 230.0%, marking its best April. The Lexus RX 450h+ realized a 96.9% increase, achieving its best month ever, while the Lexus TX Hybrid saw a 5.6% increase, also marking its best month.
Overall, TCI sold 24,644 vehicles in April, a 1.7% decrease from the same month in 2024. The Toyota division's sales were down by 5.6%, with 20,916 units sold. However, the Lexus division experienced its best month ever, recording a 28.0% increase with 3,728 units sold.
The company noted that Toyota and Lexus vehicles assembled in Canada are currently in high demand.
