The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv has announced that Ambassador Julie S. Davis will take on the role of Chargé d’Affaires, ad interim, starting Monday, May 5th. Ambassador Davis will lead the U.S. Embassy's engagements with the Ukrainian government and citizens on behalf of President Trump and Secretary Rubio. She is tasked with working towards ending the war in Ukraine and enhancing the bilateral relationship between the two countries, aiming for increased safety, strength, and prosperity for both nations.
Ambassador Davis brings extensive diplomatic experience from over 30 years of service. Her recent role was as the U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus. She also served as Ambassador/Special Envoy for Belarus. Her previous positions include Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Europe and the European Union, and Deputy Permanent Representative of the U.S. Mission to NATO.
Ambassador Davis expressed her honor in serving in this capacity until a formal nomination for a U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine is made by the President.
