KfW IPEX-Bank has arranged and provided SEK 728 million in funding for high-speed trains on the Arlanda express, a non-stop rail line connecting Stockholm to Arlanda Airport. The financing, undertaken in a banking club, is dedicated to procuring seven new electric multiple units from European manufacturers. These units are set to replace the current fleet by 2030.

The Arlanda express, operated by A-Train AB, offers a quick journey lasting only 18 minutes, significantly faster than a car trip. The train service is powered entirely by renewable energy, supporting both speed and environmental sustainability.

Through this initiative, KfW IPEX-Bank is bolstering the role of state-of-the-art rolling stock manufacturers in Europe while furthering the decarbonization and enhancement of public transportation across the continent. Additionally, the bank enhances its engagement in financing transportation infrastructure projects in the Nordic region.
