Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a call with Prime Minister John Briceño of Belize. During the conversation, Secretary Rubio emphasized the importance of the partnership between the United States and Belize, and he extended congratulations to Prime Minister Briceño on his election victory on March 12.

Secretary Rubio acknowledged Belize's significant efforts in addressing illegal immigration, supporting security initiatives in Haiti, and combating transnational organized crime. The two leaders also discussed various topics, including tariffs, the involvement of Belize and Guatemala with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) concerning the Sarstoon River, and Belize's commitments in these matters.

Secretary Rubio expressed gratitude to Belize for its participation in the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission to Haiti. He also pledged to collaborate with Prime Minister Briceño to enhance the investment landscape for U.S. businesses operating in Belize.

Both leaders concluded the call by affirming their dedication to enhancing the strong and cooperative ties between the United States and Belize.
