Kevin Marino Cabrera, the new U.S. Ambassador designate to Panama, has arrived in Panama City today. Francisco Torres, Director of Protocol at Panama’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was present at Tocumen International Airport to welcome him. Cabrera is expected to soon present copies of his credentials to Foreign Minister Javier Martínez-Acha and will later participate in a formal ceremony with Panama's President José Raúl Mulino.
Cabrera expressed his enthusiasm stating, “I am delighted to arrive in Panama to begin my assignment. I am honored by the trust placed in me by President Trump and the U.S. Senate to represent my country in Panama. The U.S.–Panama relationship is of critical importance, rooted in shared values and interests and spanning a broad range of issues. Our partnership is vital to ensuring stability and prosperity across the hemisphere.”
The U.S. Senate confirmed Cabrera as the U.S. Ambassador to Panama on April 9, 2025. Before this nomination, he served as a Miami-Dade County Commissioner starting in 2022. He has an extensive background in international trade, public service, and diplomacy, aligning with the U.S. Department of State’s mission to encourage peace, democracy, and prosperity across the Americas.
