David Pressman, Ambassador | U.S. Embassy in Hungary

The U.S. Embassy in Budapest is extending an invitation to Hungarian high schools to participate in a special full-day program named "Join America Day". This initiative aims to give students and teachers insight into American culture, history, and educational exchange opportunities. Schools interested in the program are encouraged to submit their applications by May 25, 2025.

The event will feature several activities curated by the embassy. An American diplomat will provide a talk with a question-and-answer session for students, offering insights into U.S. policies and culture. An EducationUSA advisor will also be present to provide information on studying abroad and exchange programs. Supplementing the educational content, the Regional English Language Office (RELO) will supply English teaching materials. Participants can look forward to receiving U.S.-themed gifts.

Applications for the program are more likely to be prioritized if developed in collaboration with local government, media, and other institutions. Schools can choose to hold the program either between September and December 2025 or between February and June 2026, depending on their preference. Successful applicants will be informed before May 31, 2025.

To apply, schools need to include a brief introduction of their institution, at least four creative ideas to represent various aspects of U.S. culture such as quizzes, culinary displays, sports, and musical performances, a draft schedule for the day, and details about potential collaborating partners.

The Embassy will review applications based on their quality and creativity. Schools may consider partnering with third-party organizations for the program's implementation. They are also urged to engage with local media to ensure coverage of the event.
