U.S. officials have attended the launch of the African Space Agency, reinforcing the United States' commitment to collaboration in space initiatives with Egypt and African nations. This participation highlights a joint approach from various U.S. government branches toward shared objectives and cooperative efforts in space exploration and technology.
Alongside the agency's inauguration, the NewSpace Africa Conference was held at the Egyptian Space Agency. U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Herro Mustafa Garg joined the conference to promote U.S. businesses in the space industry. The conference featured more than 500 delegates from 65 countries, including key figures from African and international space agencies. Ambassador Mustafa Garg emphasized the collaboration between U.S. companies, such as Princeton Satellite Systems and Maxar Intelligence, and their counterparts in Egypt and Africa.
"You are all innovators and are demonstrating that the United States is the global leader in space," said Ambassador Mustafa Garg. She added that "Egypt has developed an ambitious plan to grow its space industry, and the U.S. Embassy is ready to support your efforts. When the U.S. government, U.S. companies, and Egypt work together, we promote shared prosperity and embrace our limitless potential."
A press conference was held at the U.S. Embassy by Ambassador Mustafa Garg, featuring representatives from various U.S. aerospace companies. The discussion focused on advancing bilateral cooperation and mutual benefits in the space sector.
In tandem with the conference, Dr. Kimberly Robinson, CEO of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, conducted outreach activities across Alexandria, Cairo, and Ain Sokhna. Dr. Robinson, with over 30 years of experience with NASA, stressed the U.S.'s interest in expanding space partnerships and highlighted the opportunities for collaboration.
Representatives from several U.S. government departments, such as the U.S. Department of State and NASA, were present to show dedicated support for African space partnerships. This comprehensive involvement underscores the U.S. commitment to innovation and cooperation in space endeavors.
