Toyota Motor Europe NV/SA (TME) has reported a notable increase in its first quarter market sales, reaching 321,067 vehicles, despite challenging market conditions in Europe. TME, which oversees the wholesale sales and marketing of Toyota, GR (Gazoo Racing), and Lexus vehicles, along with parts and accessories, also supervises Toyota’s manufacturing and engineering operations in the region.
Toyota employs over 26,000 individuals directly across Europe and has invested more than EUR 12 billion since the 1990s. The company's manufacturing facilities are strategically located in Portugal, the UK, France, Poland, Czech Republic, and Turkey. An estimated 14.7 million Toyota and Lexus vehicles are currently in use on European roads, supported by a network of 28 National Marketing and Sales Companies and roughly 2,800 retail sales outlets across 53 countries.
In 2024, TME recorded the sale of 1,217,132 vehicles in Europe, capturing a market share of 7.1%. Toyota continues to expand its mobility services, notably through its KINTO brand, which operates in 20 countries and offers various mobility solutions. In alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Toyota is making strides toward achieving carbon neutrality across its European operations. The company is aiming for a complete 100% CO2 reduction in all new vehicles in Western Europe by 2035, leveraging its electrified powertrain options, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery, and fuel cell electric vehicles.
