The Volkswagen Group unveiled ten new models, including five world premieres, at Auto Shanghai 2025 as part of its 'In China, for China' strategy. The group presented the ID. ERA, ID. EVO, and ID. AURA, concept vehicles from the Volkswagen brand designed for Chinese customers. Audi also revealed its new all-electric model based on the PPE platform, the Audi A6L e-tron, and the first series model of the new AUDI brand, the AUDI E5 Sportback.
The announcement marks the start of Volkswagen's largest intelligent, connected vehicle (ICV) offensive in China, with over 20 new energy vehicles planned by 2027 and 30 purely electric models by 2030.
Volkswagen introduced its AI-based driving assistance system developed by CARIAD's joint venture CARIZON. This system offers Level 2++ driving functions for highway and urban scenarios and will be available in new compact class vehicles starting in 2026.
The group also showcased the Porsche 911 GT3, Lamborghini Temerario, Bentley Continental GT Convertible Azure, Ducati Multistrada V4 S, and Ducati Panigale V4 S motorcycles, reinforcing its presence in the Chinese market.
Oliver Blume, Chairman of Volkswagen AG, commented, "China is the technological pacemaker of global transformation. And the Volkswagen Group is playing a key role in shaping this development." Ralf Brandstätter, Member of the Board for Volkswagen AG for China, emphasized, "With our consistent ‘In China, for China’ strategy, we are taking a leading role in the era of intelligent, fully connected vehicles."
Starting April 23rd, Volkswagen Group will display over 50 models from its brands at Auto Shanghai 2025.
