The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh commemorated the 249th Anniversary of American Independence with an event on April 22 under the theme "America the Beautiful." Chargée d’Affaires Alison Dilworth hosted the gathering, which was attended by government officials, business leaders, academics, and cultural figures. The evening's focus was the longstanding relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia.

Chargée Dilworth underlined the importance of the occasion, acknowledging the natural beauty and shared interests of both countries. "It is my great honor to welcome all of you tonight to the U.S. Embassy to mark America’s 249th birthday," she stated. She noted that although Independence Day is officially on July 4, the spring event in Riyadh celebrates the beauty both nations share.

Dilworth shared her experiences in Saudi Arabia, praising its landscapes and hospitality. She commented, "From the turquoise waters of the Red Sea to the roses of Taif and the green mountains of Abha, Saudi Arabia’s beauty is unforgettable – and it’s the generosity of the Saudi people that makes these places truly special."

The Chargée also highlighted cultural and personal ties, adding, "I often meet Saudis who fondly recall their time in the U.S. — hiking through Yellowstone, surfing in California, or enjoying Chicago’s skyline." She considered these interactions a testament to the robust relationship between the peoples of both nations.

The event showcased significant collaborative areas between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, particularly in commerce, energy, innovation, artificial intelligence, entertainment, and space. "Together, we are building a future of shared prosperity," Dilworth remarked. She anticipated seeing more American and Saudi astronauts cooperating in space.

The celebration featured decorations inspired by iconic American landscapes and included food, music, and cultural displays that emphasized the shared goals and strengthened bonds between the United States and Saudi Arabia.
