A U.S. congressional delegation led by Senator Pete Ricketts concluded a visit to Taiwan from April 16 to 19, 2025, as part of a broader tour of the Indo-Pacific region. Senator Ricketts, who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cybersecurity Policy, was accompanied by Senator Chris Coons and Senator Ted Budd.
During their time in Taiwan, the delegation met with key figures, including President Lai Ching-te, Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim, National Security Council Secretary General Joseph Wu, and Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung. Discussions covered pivotal topics such as U.S.-Taiwan relations, regional security, trade, investment, and other mutual interests.
The delegation's visit emphasized the U.S. commitment to its partnership with Taiwan and reaffirmed both nations' dedication to a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
