The U.S. Embassy in Cairo took part in celebrating the 10th anniversary of Maker Faire Cairo. The event, hosted at the GrEEK Campus in Cairo, exhibited the talents and creativity of Egyptian innovators.
Since its inception in 2015, the Maker Faire Cairo has become a prominent DIY festival in the Middle East and North Africa, attracting thousands yearly. San3a Tech organized the event in partnership with the American Center Cairo (ACC), providing a platform for creators, artists, engineers, and innovators to display their projects and inspire others.
U.S. Embassy Cairo Spokesperson Gina Cabrera commented, "These creators, artists, and engineers at Maker Faire this year are truly inspiring. By coming together and sharing ideas, we can create a stronger, safer, and more prosperous future for both the United States and Egypt."
This year's Maker Faire Cairo featured over 50 workshops, eight demonstrations, and 15 exhibits, along with a knowledge hub offering talks and practical learning activities covering topics from robotics to woodworking. The event drew more than 2,000 makers from Egypt and around the world.
The Maker Faire, which began at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2003, has since expanded globally. The 10th anniversary of Maker Faire Cairo marks the significant growth of this vibrant community, encouraging people to transform ideas into tangible projects.
The U.S. Embassy in Cairo is committed to promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic cooperation to foster prosperity among youth in both Egypt and the United States. By supporting initiatives like Maker Faire Cairo, the American Center Cairo aims to engage young people in science, technology, and the arts.
