The U.S. Mission to South Africa has expressed gratitude to the South African Police Service (SAPS) following the successful rescue of a kidnapped American citizen. The incident occurred in the Eastern Cape on April 15, with the SAPS playing a key role in the safe recovery.
"The U.S. Mission to South Africa expresses its sincere appreciation to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for locating and rescuing a kidnapped U.S. citizen in the Eastern Cape on April 15," stated the mission.
The rescue operation was a coordinated effort by different branches within SAPS. The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, commonly known as the Hawks, led the task, supported by the Serious Organised Crime Investigation team, the Anti-Gang Unit, Crime Intelligence, and the Tactical Response Team among others.
