Following recent discussions between senior U.S. officials and Mia Mottley, the Prime Minister of Barbados and Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the United States has expressed its support for CARICOM's statement opposing any attempts to destabilize Haiti’s Transitional Presidential Council.
The U.S. endorses the efforts made by the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support Mission and CARICOM, which aim to assist Haiti in its mission to achieve peace and stability amid threats from armed criminal gangs.
"Following discussions between the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of State with Prime Minister of Barbados and Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Mia Mottley, the United States supports the statement by CARICOM condemning any actions to destabilize Haiti’s Transitional Presidential Council," a statement from the U.S. Department of State mentioned.
The U.S. has stated it will continue consultations with regional governments to address this ongoing situation.
