The United States Embassy in Djibouti announced the official opening of the American Corner in Balbala, a significant step in U.S.-Djibouti relations. This facility, located at the Djibouti National Library, will serve as a hub for learning and community engagement, offering access to educational resources, technology, and English-language materials.

The opening ceremony gathered notable attendees such as the Minister of Youth and Culture, the Director of the Agence Nationale pour la Promotion de la Culture, and the Director of the National Library. U.S. Ambassador to Djibouti, Cynthia Kierscht, highlighted the initiative's role in strengthening bilateral ties and urged Djiboutians to explore the resources offered by the American Corner.

The United States has dedicated $30,000 in initial funding for the project, along with staff support and programming, to ensure its success. Planned activities include workshops on entrepreneurship, leadership training, and cultural exchanges.

The U.S. Embassy expressed gratitude to the National Library for providing space, staff, and logistical support to facilitate the initiative.

Ambassador Kierscht encouraged utilization of the services at American Corner Balbala, stating, “This American Corner is more than just a physical space—it represents a gateway to knowledge, skills, and opportunities that will empower the next generation.”

The American Corner is now open from Sunday to Thursday, 08:30 to 16:30. Meanwhile, the American Corner in the downtown Chamber of Commerce building will continue operations, offering its resources and programs to the community.
