Routine consular services in Papeete, Tahiti, have been suspended indefinitely, according to a statement from the U.S. government. However, emergency services will remain accessible to U.S. citizens through the embassy in Suva, Fiji. Those experiencing an emergency should contact 679-331-4466, while after-hours issues should be directed to 679-772-8049.
Meanwhile, routine services can be accessed at other diplomatic or consular offices in the region and intermittently in Papeete. Available services include passport services, report of a U.S. citizen born abroad, notarials, and consular reports of death.
Questions or appointment requests can be sent via email to TahitiACS@State.Gov. Updates are available on the U.S. Consular Agency French Polynesia's page through the U.S. Embassy in Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga, and Tuvalu.
For further assistance, U.S. citizens are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for security updates and follow the State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs.
