U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Steven Witkoff, together with the U.S. Ambassador to Oman, Ana Escrogima, participated in discussions in Muscat with Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Abbas Araghchi. The Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi hosted the talks.
According to a statement from the White House, "the discussions were very positive and constructive," and the United States expressed its gratitude to Oman for supporting the talks. Special Envoy Witkoff emphasized to Dr. Araghchi that he had been directed by President Trump to seek resolution between the two nations through dialogue and diplomacy. The discussions are considered complex, and the meeting is viewed as a step forward in achieving a mutually beneficial resolution.
The statement clarified, "these issues are very complicated, and Special Envoy Witkoff’s direct communication today was a step forward in achieving a mutually beneficial outcome." There is an agreement for both parties to convene again the following Saturday.
