Starting April 22, 2025, a significant change will be implemented for visa applicants in Abuja and Lagos. All applicants are required to bring a DS-160 visa application form with a confirmation/barcode number for their appointments. The barcode number must start with "AA" followed by "00". This number must match the one used when making an appointment online, and the appointment location must correspond to the one chosen during the form's completion.

Applicants will be denied entry to the Consular Section or their visa interview if there is a discrepancy between the confirmation/barcode number on the DS-160 form and the one used to schedule the appointment.

A reminder is issued to double-check at least two weeks before the interview to ensure that the barcode number on the DS-160 form is correct. Applicants cannot reuse a DS-160 from a previous application.

For those whose DS-160 barcode is incorrect, it is essential to log into their AVITS account at least 10 days before the appointment to create a support ticket to correct the barcode number.

If turned away from an appointment due to a mismatch in barcode numbers, applicants must correct the issue and schedule a new appointment to continue the visa application process. A new appointment can be booked by logging into the AVITS account. In cases where the visa fee has expired, a new payment may be necessary before booking a new appointment.

Applicants with questions or needing assistance can contact the visa call center at +234 2013438900 or +1 734 418 2395 (from the U.S.), reach out via email at nigeria@usvisaappt.com, or use the ChatBot and Click-To-Talk features available on the AVITS website.
