Volkswagen Group has unveiled a new line of vehicles at Auto Shanghai 2025 as part of its "In China, for China" strategy. The automaker's new models are developed specifically for the Chinese market and reflect the Group's aim to expand its presence in China with a focus on intelligent, fully connected vehicles. The event featured seven world premieres from the AUDI and Volkswagen brands, showcasing the latest developments in this area.

By 2027, Volkswagen Group plans to release over 20 new energy vehicles (NEVs), and by 2030, it expects to offer 30 all-electric models. Key to this effort is the company's push into intelligent, fully connected vehicles. The company will soon introduce its AI-driven, highly automated driving system, developed by CARIZON, which is expected to advance the Group's efforts in autonomous vehicle technology.

Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, noted that the Chinese market is pivotal for the company. He stated: "China is an important market for the Volkswagen Group. Two years ago, we realigned our strategy. And we have made progress faster than initially planned."

Ralf Brandstätter, Volkswagen AG Group Board Member for China, emphasized the localized approach to vehicle development. "With our strong 'In China, for China' strategy, we are shifting delivery mode for Auto Shanghai," he said.

On April 22, the eve of the Shanghai auto show, Volkswagen Group Night revealed several new models, including an all-electric Audi vehicle based on the Premium Platform Electric. The company plans to feature several advanced technologies in these models, indicating a strong move towards autonomous capabilities and electric mobility specifically tailored to meet local needs.

Among the notable models launched are FAW-Volkswagen's notchback concept, SAIC VOLKSWAGEN's B-SUV hybrid concept, and Volkswagen Anhui's electric B-SUV concept, all aimed at the Chinese consumer market with state-of-the-art tech.

In addition to cars, Ducati's Multistrada V4 S made its debut for the Chinese market. Other highlights included the Porsche 911 GT3 and the Lamborghini Temerario.

Overall, Volkswagen Group's product offensive in China underscores its commitment to adapting and thriving within this vital market, with a keen focus on digital functions and autonomous driving advancements to align with consumer expectations.

The Volkswagen Group will continue showcasing its offerings with over 50 models at Auto Shanghai 2025 and is leveraging local capabilities to further its goals in the region. The company's efforts align with its aim to maintain its status as the leading international auto manufacturer in China.
