The Cambridge Festival in 2025 concluded with a remarkable turnout, attracting 45,000 visitors, who gathered to celebrate ideas, discovery, and dialogue. The festival this year focused on the transformative power of artificial intelligence, while addressing important questions related to power, access, and identity.
In keeping with current societal concerns, the festival served as a platform for delving into mental health. Through innovative science and candid storytelling, it provided insight into the human brain and experience. Over 130 events were organized, covering topics such as health, aging, genetics, and wellbeing.
The political and historical discussions, particularly relating to democracy, memory, and identity, were so popular they sold out.
Youth and family events continued to draw significant engagement, with activities ranging from bridge building and earthquake exploration to arcade games, treasure hunts, and escape rooms. The festival's reach extended into the community via partnerships with libraries, neighborhood centers, and local museums, thus spreading access to high-level ideas and research.
Feedback from attendees highlighted the festival's impact and inclusivity. One participant commented: “It was such a refreshing change to have an event for town people—especially Black town people—and to be in a University building.” Another noted: “A wonderful event. We feel privileged to hear talks from these experts, and to have them be willing to take questions from children.” A third called the festival “fantastic” and expressed gratitude for the effort behind the event.
