The department continues to urge Thailand to respect freedom of expression and ensure laws are not used to suppress permitted speech. As an ally, the United States will follow the issue closely and advocate for Chambers' fair treatment.
Consular officers from the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok are providing consular assistance to Chambers. "We have requested access to him to ensure his well-being and to provide any necessary support," the statement added.
