Ambassador Dorothy Shea, who currently acts as the United States' Representative to the United Nations, met today with families whose members have been held hostage by Hamas since October 7. During the meeting, Shea acknowledged the families' steadfast commitment to advocating for their detained relatives and others in similar situations abducted by Hamas.

The United States' concerns about the well-being of these hostages remain strong, with President Trump stating a clear position: all 59 remaining hostages must be released without delay. As described by Acting Spokesperson Saul Mercado, Shea reinforced the importance of prioritizing the hostages' mental and physical safety and highlighted the need for their release.

President Trump, supported by Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, has been actively working towards securing the hostages' release. According to Mercado, the United States persists in urging UN partners to join efforts to ensure the hostages' safe return. "The United States will continue pressing partners at the UN to add their voice and effort to bring them home now."
