In Additive Manufacturing, components are constructed layer by layer rather than formed by removing materials as in standard manufacturing processes. This method allows for flexibility and design options, leading to new opportunities for both research and industry.

Recently, a new association known as BavariaMakes has been established. This organization is designed as Bavaria's High-Tech Alliance aimed at advancing the future of manufacturing. Key figures include Peter Mayr from TUM, Karsten Heuser from Siemens, and Markus Obermeier from Siemens. Other notable members include Robert Dean from Colibrium Additive, Kathrin Wudy from TUM, and Marius Lakomiec from EOS.

Further participants in this initiative are Marcus Giglmaier from Oerlikon, Nikolaus Adams from TUM, and Christoph Hauck from toolcraft. Josip Vincic and Joseph Hofmann, both from TUM, are also involved, alongside Jürgen Kraus and Ines Soehngen from MTU, and Matthias Konrad from Bayern Innovativ.

The objective of BavariaMakes is to harness the potential of Additive Manufacturing technologies and foster collaborations between academia, research institutions, and industry players to propel innovative development in the manufacturing sector.
