Standard Chartered has appointed David Hardoon as the new Global Head of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Enablement. The appointment takes effect immediately and highlights the bank's strategy to incorporate advanced analytics and AI in its operations. David will operate from Singapore and will report directly to Mohammed Rahim, the Group Chief Data Officer at Standard Chartered.

David boasts over 22 years of experience, having worked across banking, advisory, government, and education sectors. His notable contributions include formulating the AI strategy for the Monetary Authority of Singapore, fostering cross-border data flows, and encouraging the use of data and AI aligned with the FEAT principles—Fairness, Ethics, Accountability, and Transparency—throughout Singapore's financial sector.

In his new capacity, David will focus on developing strong AI capabilities and governance within the bank's Chief Data Office. He will also explore potential areas where AI can enhance value, streamline operations, and improve customer experiences.

Mohammed Rahim expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, saying, “I am thrilled to welcome David to Standard Chartered. As a senior and strategic hire for the Chief Data Office, David will play a critical role in shaping and driving our AI strategy and ambitions, ensuring that we harness the full potential of AI technologies to enhance our client-focused, data-driven services and operations. Given our people-approach to AI, I am confident his leadership will enable us to responsibly leverage AI to deepen our client relationships and further strengthen our ability to meet their cross-border needs.”
