NAB Foundation has escalated its commitment to Disaster Relief Australia by granting $4 million over the next three years, raising the total funding to $5.2 million since 2023. This investment is designed to enhance the capacity of the 'NAB Foundation Recovery Crew,' aiding communities in disaster preparedness and recovery.

The partnership, led by Disaster Relief Australia, offers individuals from workplaces and the community the chance to volunteer locally during disasters. The organization's management ensures that volunteer operations are carried out safely and efficiently, with the goal of expanding the volunteer pool from 1,500 to 6,600 by 2028.

Following the aftermath of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, NAB Group CEO Andrew Irvine and Disaster Relief Australia CEO Dave Smith visited affected areas in Redland Bay. Dave Smith emphasized the importance of NAB Foundation's support in increasing volunteer engagement for disaster readiness and recovery efforts.

"As disasters become more frequent and severe, people want to help as and when they can. As we scale up our preparedness capabilities and respond to more disaster operations, providing greater support for those who need it is critical," said Smith. He noted that the unpredictability and suddenness of disasters like Alfred highlight the urgent need for efficient recovery strategies.

NAB Group CEO Andrew Irvine expressed concern over the impact of natural disasters on communities, reaffirming NAB’s dedication to customer support. "We are committed to supporting customers in moments that matter. We provide fast financial relief, including grants, loan deferrals, and repayment arrangements to help customers recover and rebuild from disasters," Irvine stated.

Irvine further acknowledged the Australian spirit of solidarity in challenging times and expressed pride in partnering with Disaster Relief Australia for recovery and resilience-building efforts.
