OCBC has initiated the SeniorCare programme in Singapore, investing over S$2 million to assist more than 180,000 seniors aged 60 and above during the forthcoming three years. The programme targets four main areas: Health, Wealth, Literacy, and Lifestyle. This move coincides with Singapore's progression towards becoming a "super-aged" society by 2026, where 21% of the population will be aged 65 or older, potentially rising to one in four by 2030.

The programme, tailored for senior OCBC customers and broader senior communities, was inaugurated by Mr. Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health, at Bukit Canberra. Around 1,000 seniors participated in the launch, along with OCBC volunteers, engaging in various activities that included a mass workout, cognitive games, and educational sessions on digital banking.

Ms. Helen Wong, OCBC's Group CEO, stated, “The global population is aging. The number of people aged 60 and older worldwide is projected to increase from 1.1 billion in 2023 to 1.4 billion by 2030. This trend is particularly evident in developing regions. By next year, Singapore will likely become ‘super-aged’. OCBC is hence committing more than S$2 million to the OCBC SeniorCare programme over three years. In total, over 180,000 seniors will benefit from our programme."

Focused on pragmatic solutions, the programme will develop initiatives based on OCBC's insights and feedback from their senior clientele and partners. Pillar-specific strategies are to be rolled out throughout the project. Health-related initiatives include partnerships with Raffles Medical Group and Q&M Dental Group offering service member rates to senior OCBC customers and mental well-being programs like Singapore’s first corporate-backed home-based counseling initiative in collaboration with Care Corner Singapore.

In the Wealth category, OCBC has created new roles known as "OCBC CARE Ambassadors," dialect-speaking staff assisting seniors at branches, alongside special promotions on time deposit and savings accounts. Under Literacy, OCBC will continue "OCBC Digital Silvers" workshops and plans additional talks on the Central Provident Fund.

For Lifestyle, OCBC promises deals and discounts, available through vouchers at various senior branches starting 3 April 2025, benefiting OCBC customer seniors. The programme aims to extend senior-friendly services and initiatives, backed by firm community support.
