Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) reported a total of 31,637 vehicle sales for the first quarter of 2025, reflecting an increase of 11% compared to the same period in 2024. This growth comes in light of the attention garnered with the February launch of the 2025 Outlander.
Leading MMNA sales in the first quarter was the Outlander, with a total of 11,992 units sold. The Outlander Plug-in Hybrid also showed strong performance with 1,703 units sold, marking a 12% increase, and experiencing its best-ever pure dealer-retail sales in March.
The company credits strong showroom traffic and effective sales and advertising support for the positive results across its models including the Outlander Sport, Eclipse Cross, and Mirage. It is noteworthy that although Mirage production has ceased, existing inventory continues to be sold from dealer lots.
Detailed sales results for Q1 2025 compared with Q1 2024 are as follows: Mirage saw sales of 7,301 units compared to 5,003; Outlander Sport moved from 4,569 to 6,910; the Outlander slightly decreased from 13,846 units to 11,992; the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid increased from 1,522 to 1,703; and Eclipse Cross sales grew from 3,463 to 3,731.
MMNA, through its network of approximately 330 dealer partners, oversaw U.S. sales, marketing, and customer service of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles. The company's five-year business plan, “Momentum 2030,” outlines intentions for transforming its product lineup and business operations. This includes introducing a new or refreshed model annually until 2030, powered by a mix of advanced-technology engines, hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery electrics. The plan projects nearly doubling the product line from today’s four vehicles, and aims to modernize the retail sales model and expand the sales network.
MMNA is headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee, with corporate operations in California, Georgia, Michigan, and New Jersey.
