The Online Professional English Network (OPEN) Program is now accepting applications for its Summer 2025 term. This initiative offers online university-level courses in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) for foreign English teaching professionals.
The summer term includes eight global courses: Teaching English Academic Writing to Speakers of Other Languages, Teaching Grammar Communicatively, Using Educational Technology in the English Language Classroom, Professional Development for Teacher Trainers, Creating and Implementing Online Courses, Teaching English to Young Learners, TESOL Methodology, and Fostering Student Motivation and Engagement.
"This is an online, non-degree program. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion and become official ECA International Exchange Alumni."
The program, lasting eight weeks, runs from July 1 to August 25, 2025, with orientation available from May 26 to June 20, 2025. The deadline for applications is April 17, 2025, by 11:59 p.m. local time.
Eligibility requirements include citizenship and residency in the nominating country, Bosnia and Herzegovina, without dual U.S. citizenship. Applicants should exhibit skills such as basic technology proficiency and the ability to perform academic work at a U.S. university level, with a reading and writing level equivalent to CEFR B2.
The application process involves applying through the U.S. Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, using the application forms provided. Completed applications should be emailed to bhexc@state.gov with the subject line “Candidate Last, First Name, 2025 Summer Term OPEN Program.” Applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. local time on April 17, 2025.
