Siemens AG in collaboration with Siemens Healthineers AG has announced a donation of €200,000 to aid victims of the recent earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. This initiative aims to provide immediate assistance to those affected by the natural disaster.
"Our thoughts are with the victims, with their families, with all those affected. We want to help. And – together with Siemens Healthineers – we’re making €200,000 available as immediate assistance. This is the first step. Our non-profit organization Siemens Caring Hands e.V. is currently determining how and where we can provide additional help," stated Peter Koerte, a member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG. He also serves as the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Strategy Officer at the company.
Judith Wiese, another member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG, highlighted the company's longstanding tradition of social responsibility. "Social engagement is deeply anchored at Siemens and has shaped our actions for over 177 years. This also means providing quick and pragmatic support to people in need as a result of disasters, such as the victims of the severe earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand," she remarked.
The donation will be dispersed through Siemens Caring Hands e.V., a non-profit organization associated with Siemens. This organization will allocate the funds to chosen relief agencies, which will utilize them to implement emergency measures including the provision of tents, accommodation, technical support, food, drinking water, and essential medical care.
