President Donald Trump recently held a discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin, focusing on the ongoing Ukraine conflict and the pressing need for peace. Both leaders agreed on the imperative for a lasting peace agreement and worked to improve bilateral relations between the United States and Russia.

"The blood and treasure that both Ukraine and Russia have been spending in this war would be better spent on the needs of their people," was a sentiment expressed in their talks as they pondered the resources expended on the ongoing war.

Both presidents expressed the belief that the conflict should have been avoided and resolved through genuine peace efforts long ago. They mapped out the commencement of peace through an energy and infrastructure ceasefire, technical negotiations on a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, and a comprehensive ceasefire aimed at establishing permanent peace.

Middle Eastern cooperation was also on the agenda, as the leaders spoke of using the region's potential for preventing future conflicts. They highlighted a mutual need to prevent the spread of strategic weapons and seek extensive engagement to ensure wide application of these efforts. A critical point of agreement was the insistence that “Iran should never be in a position to destroy Israel.”

A brighter future for U.S.-Russia relations was foreseen, promising substantial economic deals and geopolitical stability upon achieving peace.
