The U.S. Embassy in Congo and the English Club of the Embassy Journalists held a conference on March 12-13, 2025, to mark International Women’s Rights Day. The event, part of Women's History Month, was attended by female journalists, students, and English center learners. Its focus was to explore the challenges and opportunities that women face in the media sector.

The conference featured bilingual panels discussing the role of women in journalism and their representation across the media industry. Participants emphasized the need for increased inclusion of women in media roles and highlighted March 8's significance.

In addressing the attendees, Eric Elliott, the Public Affairs Counselor of the Embassy, remarked: “We cannot say enough about the contributions of women to the development of every society. To echo this, President Trump declared in his proclamation on Women’s History Month, published on March 6, that ‘every day, without glory or fanfare, women inspire, support, and strengthen their families and communities…’ This is true for the United States as well as for all other countries in the world."

Elliott expressed gratitude to everyone involved, saying, "We thank all the speakers, participants, and partners for their engagement and contribution to the success of this event."
