Edgard D. Kagan Ambassador | U.S. Embassy in Malaysia

A demonstration is planned near the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur on March 28, 2025. The event will take place at 2:00 p.m. in front of the Menara See Hoy Chan building, located at 374 Jalan Tun Razak.

The U.S. Embassy has advised American citizens to stay informed through local media updates as traffic disruptions and a police presence are expected in the area. Although there is no current indication that the demonstration will turn violent, the embassy cautions that "the nature of protests can change quickly and with little warning." It also reminds non-Malaysians that participating in demonstrations in Malaysia is illegal.

The embassy's front entrance will be closed to pedestrian traffic starting at noon on March 28 until the demonstration concludes.

U.S. citizens are advised to avoid areas where demonstrators gather, monitor local media for updates, steer clear of crowds and demonstrations, and remain aware of their surroundings.

For assistance, U.S. citizens can contact the U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur at +603-2168-5000 or via email at KLACS@state.gov. Additional information can be found on their website https://my.usembassy.gov or by contacting State Department Consular Affairs at +1 (888) 407-4747 or +1 (202) 501-4444.
