Siemens has announced the acquisition of Altair, aiming to enhance its portfolio of AI-powered industrial software. This move is part of Siemens' strategy to integrate advanced technologies into its operations and provide comprehensive solutions for design, engineering, and simulation.

Roland Busch, President and CEO of Siemens AG, stated, "We welcome the Altair community of customers, partners and colleagues to Siemens. Adding Altair’s groundbreaking innovations to the Siemens Xcelerator platform will create the world's most complete AI-powered design, engineering and simulation portfolio. Together, we will help our customers to innovate at the scale and speed that today's complexity-driven world demands." He added that through their ONE Tech Company program, they aim to lead in industrial software by enabling industries to benefit from data and AI advancements.

The integration of Altair's expertise in simulation, high-performance computing (HPC), data science, and AI is expected to bolster Siemens' capabilities in developing efficient and sustainable products. This acquisition allows Siemens' clientele—ranging from engineers to generalists—to leverage new simulation tools, optimize HPC processes, develop AI applications, and perform data analytics. These enhancements are designed to expedite innovation and digital transformation across businesses.

This acquisition aligns with Siemens’ ONE Tech Company program which aims to boost its digital revenue share. The program focuses on strengthening Siemens’ market position through strategic growth initiatives including acquisitions like Altair’s as well as research and development investments in software development, AI-enabled products, connected hardware, and sustainability.

In addition to acquiring Altair, Siemens has expanded its manufacturing facilities in California and Texas. Over the past two decades, Siemens has invested more than USD 100 billion in the United States.
