The United States and Ukraine recently concluded technical-level discussions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of ongoing efforts to address issues related to the Black Sea. These talks followed presidential-level discussions between President Donald J. Trump and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

During the meetings held from March 23-25, both nations reached several agreements aimed at enhancing security and cooperation in the region. The two countries agreed on measures to ensure safe navigation, eliminate the use of force, and prevent commercial vessels from being used for military purposes in the Black Sea.

Additionally, both parties affirmed their commitment to facilitating the exchange of prisoners of war, releasing civilian detainees, and ensuring the return of Ukrainian children who have been forcibly transferred. Another significant outcome was their agreement to develop measures that align with President Trump's and President Zelenskyy's decision to ban strikes against energy facilities in Russia and Ukraine.

The United States and Ukraine expressed openness to involving third countries in supporting these energy and maritime agreements. They also emphasized their continued efforts toward achieving a durable peace.

President Trump reiterated his stance that ending hostilities is crucial for a lasting peace settlement between Russia and Ukraine. The United States will continue its role in facilitating negotiations aimed at reaching a peaceful resolution based on the agreements established during these discussions.

The U.S. government expressed gratitude to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his leadership and hospitality in hosting these important discussions in Saudi Arabia.
