Siemens is enhancing the integration of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) through a collaboration with Microsoft. This partnership focuses on edge, cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and simulation technologies.
The Siemens Industrial Edge platform enables manufacturers to manage workloads and connectivity applications efficiently. It facilitates seamless connections between industrial assets and Microsoft Azure, ensuring smooth data flow from production lines to the edge and the cloud.
Siemens and Microsoft aim to assist industrial manufacturers in deploying edge-to-cloud solutions. By utilizing Siemens' Industrial AI portfolio alongside Azure Machine Learning services, producers can enhance product quality using AI while reducing manual rework and costs. The trained AI models operate at the edge with low latency.
Data from Siemens Industrial Edge is used by Azure IoT Operations and Azure cloud services to create digital twins, which improve equipment efficiency and value flows on shop floors. Additionally, live production data combined with generative AI capabilities enhances workforce skills and operations.
"The Siemens Industrial Copilot for Operations helps operators troubleshoot problems and access machine information through natural language queries," according to a statement about this collaboration.
