In Washington, DC, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) conducted an informal briefing on March 14, 2025. The Executive Board was updated by staff regarding economic developments in six countries: Afghanistan, Iran, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, and Yemen.

This briefing aligns with the IMF's standard procedures for member countries whose Article IV consultations have been delayed. Such briefings occur approximately every 12 months when consultations are delayed by more than 18 months and rely on publicly available information.

The meeting aimed to provide insights into the current economic situations of these nations and to maintain a line of communication between the IMF and its member states despite delays in formal consultations.
